Tarkington Responds to Hourse Fire in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, January 21, 2008 - For the second time in less than twenty-four hours, Cleveland and Tarkington firefighters were called to fight a major house fire.

At approximately 10:40PM on Sunday evening, Cleveland Fire Department was dispatched to a report of house fire on CR328N. Cleveland Assistant Chief Jerry Oliver arrived on location to find the single-story wood-frame structure already heavily involved.

Since the fire was several miles outside the city limits and with the closest hydrant nearly a mile away, Oliver had Tarkington VFD dispatched to bring tankers for water. Tarkington’s two tankers shuttled over 11,000 gallons of water to fight the blaze.

The cause of the fire is thought to be electrical.
