Libertad Chapter Hosts New Regents' Council

LIVINGSTON, January 21, 2008 – Texas DAR has a new regents’ council! On Monday, February 11, 2008, the Magnolia Regents’ Council, TSDAR was organized at a meeting in Liberty, Texas, with Libertad Chapter, NSDAR hosting. With 22 charter members representing 12 chapters, the group adopted by-laws and elected officers. The Council is honored to have as charter members TSDAR officers State Regent Lynn Young, State Corresponding Secretary Pamela Wright, State Organizing Secretary Kay Alston, and State Registrar Judy Ostler.

The NSDAR chapters attending included Colonel George Moffett, Beaumont; Daniel Witcher, Jasper; Goose Creek, Baytown; James Tull, Humble; Jane Long, Pasadena; Jonathan Hardin, Mexia; Lady Houston, Kingwood; Lady Washington, Houston; Libertad, Liberty; Major Jarred Beasley, Crockett: Robert Rankin, Livingston; Tejas, Houston.

Texas DAR State Regent Lynn Young installed the officers. Leading the new Magnolia Council are President Ada Fay Schmidt, Libertad; Vice-president Patricia Forrest, Daniel Witcher; Chaplain Linda Cansler, Colonel George Moffett; Secretary Nancy Brandli, Libertad; Treasurer Cindy Rucker, Jane Long; Historian Melanie Nolan, James Tull. The next meeting will be the second Tuesday in August at 10:00 A.M. in Liberty. Regents, both past and present, are invited to attend.
