Boy Scouts Visit Governor in Austin

AUSTIN, February 2, 2008 - For one day, downtown Austin becomes a sea of Cub Scouts , Boy Scouts, Venturers and Sea Scouts from all over Texas march down Congress Avenue to the Capitol. From there, special Scout delegates from each council in the state go to the floor of the House of Representatives and report to members of the state government about Scouting activities from the past year, and plans for the future.

Under the direction of Chad Srader, Senior District Executive, seven Delegates from the Three Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America, traveled to the State Capitol in Austin Saturday, to deliver a Report to State community service report. John Bond, a Boy Scout from Dayton , Texas , gave the report in front of Texas Governor Rick Perry and thousands of Scouts and Scouters. John reported on the community service hours and projects that Scouts in the Beaumont and surrounding areas have completed in 2007. The Delegates also were able to take a photo with Texas Governor Rick Perry in the Governors Reception Room.
