Houston ISD Employee Arrested For Child Pornography Possession

HOUSTON, March 20, 2008 – Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott’s Cyber Crimes Unit arrested a Houston Independent School District employee for possessing child pornography.

Campus network specialist Richard Garret Hulbert, 56, was arrested at his Houston residence Tuesday and charged with two counts of child pornography possession. Cyber Crimes Unit investigators began investigating Hulbert after several cybertips indicated he was sharing sexually explicit images of children online. At the time of the investigation, Hulbert worked at a middle school campus.

The Houston ISD Police Department, Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Harris County Constable Precinct Five’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
Attorney General Abbott has earned a national reputation for aggressively arresting and prosecuting child predators. Since 2003, the Cyber Crimes Unit and Fugitive Unit have arrested more than 600 sex predators. Prosecutors also have obtained convictions against more than 70 men on child pornography charges.
