New Record Prices
HOUSTON, March 1, 2008 - Seven of the eleven Texas regions surveyed set new record highs for gas prices this week, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.
The current Texas average of $3.07 a gallon is about two cents shy of hitting the all-time statewide record high of $3.09 a gallon.
San Antonio rose eight cents to $3.03 a gallon. It is the lowest average on the survey, but a new record for San Antonio. Texarkana once again has the state’s highest average at $3.14 a gallon, which is also a new record.o
"Record crude oil prices above $102 a barrel propelled pump prices to new highs this week. Analysts attribute some of the rise to a weakening U.S. dollar and concerns over OPEC’s upcoming crude production meeting," said AAA Texas spokesperson Rose Rougeau. "With the price of gas in every Texas city above $3 a gallon, AAA Texas encourages all motorists to conserve, conserve, conserve."
