Dr. Alma Allen Speech at MLK Celebration DAYTON, January 19, 2008 - Livingston native daughter, graduate of the Dunbar School and State Representative Dr. Alma A. Allen spoke Saturday afternoon at a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration in Dayton.
Dr. Allen spoke about the future and the need of need for the younger generation to take up the cause and live the Dream of Dr. King. It’s been 40 years since Dr. King died and there has been no yet to take over the job. Allen spoke of the hardships of being a leader like Dr. King. If someone will accept the job you can expect little pay, long hours, many sacrifices, as well as you may have to face fire hoses, dogs and jail. Most people living today have no recollection of segregation and of being denied public services due only to the color of your skin. Dr. King’s message was for every one of all races, colors and creeds that make up the fabric of America. Remember to live the Dream everyday and keep the Dream alive!
