Ruptured Water Line on East Church Street

LIVINGSTON, January 6, 2008 – A ruptured water line located at the 700th block of East Church Street in Livingston across the street from the Polk County Annex, threatened to disrupt the flow of traffic on Sunday.

The broken line was first reported by local law enforcement at approximately 12 noon.  Municipal water workers, Dario Ruiz and Royce Newport were dispatched to the scene of the ruptured line and went to work immediately to get the line fixed as soon as possible.

According to Ruiz, the line was a 6 inch water main that was located about 5 ft. deep and approximately 3 feet up under the road.  Ruiz said that when a water main breaks it takes an average time of 3 to 4 hours to fix it.  Possibly longer depending on the severity of the damage to the line.
