Livingston to Host 8th Annual Multicultural Festival

LIVINGSTON, January 8, 2008 – The 8th annual Multicultural Festival will be honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 21st starting at 5:00 pm at the Livingston High School Auditorium.  Some of the highlights of the festival will include:

  • Health Fair – Health care professionals on hand to conduct complete chemistry and PSAs
  • Job Fair – A complete overview of all the Workforce Center Programs
  • C.H.I.P. – Children’s Health Insurance Program
  • Education – Information on continuing education will be available to students
  • Mental Health & Mental Retardation – Personnel available for answer question and answer session
  • Drug Awareness – Displays and demonstrations increasing drug awareness

Entertainment will feature Glenn Lenderman, the Livingston Honors Choir, Dennis Ivey Band of Crockett, Performances by the Alabama Coushatta Nation, the Ayubu Sacred Afrikan Drum & Dance Society, and Entertainment by representatives of all cultures.  Voter registration cards and assistance will be available at the festival sponsored by Polk County Tax Assessor/Collector, Bid Smith.

Additionally, there will be fish fry and all families are invited to a catfish dinner with all the trimmings.  If you wish, shine with pride and help add Zesto to the occasion by wearing your native clothing!
