Gas Prices Reach New Highs

Democrats are an angry crowd these days. Mad at all the problems in the world that BUSH created. After all, if something is wrong it is BUSH's fault. Democrats have always had a penchant for wild conspiracy theories surrounding BUSH. The vast right wing conspiracy just never ends. Nevermind the fact we have a Democrat controlled congress. So if a Democrat is elected President and gasoline prices continue to rise, what wild conspiracy theory will be used then?

Lets see I guess some people still aren't paying attention.In 2002 a barrel of oil was 20 bucks.Today its 111$.Bush did not veto any bill the republican congress sent to him.Now he veto's everything congress sends him.Ray Charles could see what "conspiracy" is going on.Obviously you are not smart enough to see that.When the Dems get 60 in the Senate and control the white house we will at the least see what they can do.They can't do any worse.How soon you forget how good the 90's were.Oh thats right you probably wasn't paying attention then either !

Another angry Democrat wants us to remember the good ole days of the 90's. Okay. Which part of the 90's? In 1993 when Hillary was busy promoting NAFTA? Clinton's greatest economic claims are NAFTA, the creation and expansion of the World Trade Organization-- served primarily to prevent the majority of Americans from sharing in the gains from economic growth. And then there was welfare reform, which threw millions of poor single mothers at the mercy of one of the lowest-wage labor markets in the industrialized world. Clinton's foreign economic policy was similar, although more devastating. His administration, together with its allies at the IMF and the World Bank, presided over the destruction of the Russian economy, helped to cause and worsen the Asian economic crisis, and squeezed billions in debt service from the poorest countries in Africa. Not to mention racking up a record, economically unsustainable trade deficit for the United States. Yep. Those are the rip-roaring days of the 90's brought to us by the Democratic party.

Amazing!First you get scammed by the so-called legitimate mortgage company.While they slide all those papers in front of you to sign and brief you on each one.You sign them.Trusting that they are telling you the truth,because there is regulations they must follow.Next thing you know you find out your lied too and there is no recourse because they were de-regulated in 2002.Your lawyer tells you there is nothing you can do.Thats the beauty of our American companies "anything for a buck".Then all of a sudden you get scammed by someone who says they can help you.There is just no ending.All of a sudden here comes Abbott to the rescue!He can't even get my deadbeat wife to pay child support 4years.Gimme a break.I know some of these faulty mortgages were caused by the individuals themselves and they will be held accountable.The companies will get a free pass.Today the federal government used your tax money to bail out a Wall street company. 30 billion dollars! Will we see them bail out the American people who need the help more.I doubt it. November 2008 can't come to soon.If we survive that long.

30 billion for Bears Stearn but not a nickle for the SCHIP program to help put kids on health insurance. After all, we don't want socialized health care, just socialized banks.

Home Foreclosure Rate Highest Ever

Please don't participate in talking our economy down like the media does every four years at election time. Remember when George Herbert Walker Bush was running for a second term. History now tells us the economy was on an upswing.....but the media allowed Clinton to frame the election as "its the economy stupid." It happens every year the Democrats are teaming up with the media to take the White House. Unemployment is low historically.....and you need to listen to an economist who has no axe to grind and knows about the world economy to understand the need for the U.S. toretrain for 21st century jobs.

I have noticed the trend one of the comments points to. The economy the last few Presidential elections does kind of crater during the campaign. Candidates that are not from the party in power always play that up. But I am for Obama and anyone that wants to hear positive hopeful speeches knows why. We need encouragement as a nation. Like JFK, Obama will bring us Camelot and worldwiderespect.

If Obama is so full of encouragement how come he is using the politics of fear when he magnifies our short term economic problems. Unemployment is reasonably low and inflation is too.Considering it is an election year the economic indicators are not that bad.

12 billion dollars a month is what we're spending in Iraq!Where the hell is our return on our investment!$4 gasoline,job losses,stocks & 401's losing everyday,good people losing there homes our children dieing.What's next republicans?I hope your real proud of your party and prez and what they have accomplished for us.I wish you the best and hope you recover from your moment of stupidity.It will take this country and our children years to recover from your actions.Your candidate for president of AARP McCain was ask about the job losses and he said quote"Its bad but not that bad"Is he for freaking real!Its not that bad!This is the best you guys could do for a candidate!I feel for you,another moron.If ya'll were smart you would have Ron Paul.I forgot smart and republicans don't mix. You folks who chose not to vote just shut the hell up!Soldiers died for your right to vote and thats how you respect them by staying home.My 18 yr old son voted for the first time I'm proud.Sorry I'm mad,if your not you really aren't paying much attention!

The reason all the U.S. jobs in manufacturing are so low is we are getting everything from China. The reason we are getting everything from China is because Bill Clinton opened the doors for trade with them. I wonder how Wal-Mart can sell everything for less? They buy everything from China. And guess who is a board member for Wal-Mart - The Clintons. They are largely responsible for the sorry state of our job market.

In response to the pacifist that wants an accounting of the $12 billion a month spent on the war, "our return on our investment" I believe is the phrase used.......how about the preservation of our country for starters. A growing number of people have been organizing and acting out on their beliefs that the infidel America needs to be destroyed. This is seen in the increasing numbers of terrorists and terrorists acts long before George W. Bush is President. Study radical Islam and you you will see the necessity for choosing a place to draw a line in the sand and going to war. As for the monetary value of the war, the same argument against fighting was used in WWI and WWII......and it requires a more sophisticated view of the world than "$12 billion dollars out and where is the $12 billion dollars in".America's wars have been part of how America has become the most powerful nation in the world and part of the reason our economic situation is the envy of the world.

It is sad and funny to read about steaming mad Democrats. Look folks, if you think things are so bad now that it can't possibly get worse, then just wait until the next Democrat is elected. You think government spending is misguided and out of control? Just wait until Obama and/or Clinton is elected and watch your taxes go through the roof. Universal healthcare isn't "free" healthcare. Someone has to pay for it and it will be you ... not the rich. The last poster is correct about the Clintons/Democrats. NAFTA was a DEMOCRAT invention. Do you honestly believe the economy will get better the moment a Democrat is elected? Ha! It isn't a matter of how much better things will get. $3.00 per gallon is here to stay. The real question is how much WORSE can it get? Elect a Democrat and find out.

The true difference between a Democratic presidency and a Republican one is not how much higher our taxes will be (which as a Democrat I admit they will likely be higher). But it is in how our money is spent. When Clinton left office this country had a multi-million dollar surplus! Now we are trillions of dollars in debt. In my opinion, who cares if our taxes are a little bit higher if that means everyone will be able to get the healthcare they need and the Social Security they pay for in every paycheck?

I'd like to add to the previous post on government healthcare. Canada has government health care and it's proven not to work. Sure, you can get prescriptions at a cheaper price, but you are also a number in a huge red tape mess. I saw a story of a woman who needed a specific neurological procedure done, so she was put on a waiting list to get it done. The surgeon said they are only authorized to perform that procedure 12 times a year and she was number 32. During the next several months she developed such an infection that she had to have her bladder REMOVED because the neurosurgeon could not help her. You cannot even pay for care if you wanted to in Canada. Another guy was having headaches and the doctor said he should have an MRI. The wait for that was three months. The man decided to travel to the U.S. to pay for an MRI so he could get his information quickly. He took the results of that MRI, which showed he had a tumor the size of a golf ball, to his Canadian doctor to get the next step scheduled - hopefully surgery. His wait for the next appointment with the specialist was scheduled in 3 months; for a brain tumor! The couple decided to return to the U.S. to pay for surgery. So much for government medicine. On the other hand, the U.S. hospitals cannot turn critical patients away. Every day those in need get the care it takes to keep them alive. Illegal aliens are taken from the border by ambulance if they ask for health care facility. The young folks who don't have insurance, those that are too old for their parents to carry on their policies, get the care they need, but do not pay a dime. My dad is a veteran and has wonderful health care at the VA hospital. Now, I'm not a Clinton fan, but at least Hillary wants those who have the opportunity to get health care, be required to pay for it. At least that will ease the burden on our present system of paying for everyone who doesn't want to pay the premiums. When I was young and had a few kids at home, we went to a clinic filled with sick people and waited for hours for them to call our name. I finally have those kids out of the house and I'd like to choose a small office with just one or two doctors and not deal with that rat race any longer. It wll be a shame if we turn it all over to the government and we all have to wait at those crowded clinics. Another thing - why would anyone want to go to medical school? The loans to attend would never get paid because they wouldn't make much money. Should the government educate their own doctors too? Where would this stop? Our country is built on supply and demand, furthering yourself through education and the small business man. That brings me to Wal-Mart and China, but that's another topic...

Is anyone REALLY paying attention to what is happening to our country.I hate to say it but I'm scared for my kids.Since 2000 3.5 million jobs lost to overseas.We have turned China into the new super power.Gas was 99 cents when bush took over.What is someone to do when you lose your job and fuel is so high you can't afford to drive to find another.The arabs are in the drivers seat.We used to take care of everyone.Look at us now we can't or won't even take care of our own people.Not all those foreclosures are because of the individual.2004 congress and bush de-regulated the mortgage companies.Don't tell me all those companies have no fault in this,if you do your not smart.Look how far we've come in 7 years.I know you people haters out there will say something intelligent about this read.The facts are there.We are not better off than we were 7 years ago.I hope our elected officials do something soon to get this thing moving forward. I fear our government more than any terrorist.For the last 7 years they have been our worst enemy. We are fortunate here in Texas our economy helps us stay busy so alot of you don't see all the depression everywhere else I travel quite a bit I have.For those who have jobs be very thankful!

Mrs. Murphy has neither the experience nor the fortitude to take on the responsibilities needed to fill the shoes of present Commissioner Willis. It would be in everyones interest for her to stay with her present position on the school board because it's obviously better suited for a woman. Look around. How many woman do you see as commissioners? It's too much for a woman to handle because women are the weaker vessel. Fact of the matter is none of the other commissioners or people in that facet of government want to deal with a woman, and that doesn't hurt her as much as it affects the people that she represents. She needs to remember her place and be happy with where she's at on the school board, a position better suited for a woman. Her husband Matt needs to set her down and explain how the "cow ate the cabbage".

Two Jail Guards Arrested on Federal Charges

I'm truly glad that these two individuals were caught & apprehended before the situation got worse. How does anyone expect these offenders to get rehabilitated in any way if you have corrupt officials like this working for the system? These two should be put on the other side of the wall to where they were bringing the drugs to so that this will send a message to those that continue to break the law, that YOU will be eventually caught!

Wonderful work, team work, Great reporting, interesting and hopefully a BIG warning for anyone else thinking about doing the same. Another couple bad apples (if found guilty) out of the barrel!

Fact and Belief - Spot-on regarding type II diabetes, total miss on illegal aliens. You compare deporting illegal alien criminals to the exodus of the Jews from Egypt? Jews were in slavery in Egypt & not taking jobs from the working class Egyptians. Illegals in this country (regardless of their "race") take jobs from the labor class/working class/teenagers of our country. Who does your landscaping? Who roofs your house? Who takes your order (badly, I might add) from McDonald's? Americans can no longer compete for these jobs, unless Americans are willing to work for min. wage or below. Why should Americans have to do this in a non-corporate fascist society? Oh, there's the trouble right there; big business loves illegals for their cheap labor. And big business always has the United States' best interests at heart, right? Google "outsourcing" and learn. How much does it cost the taxpayers to educate children who don't speak English & translate for their parents who won't speak English? How much does it cost the taxpayers to fund health care for people who weren't born here & have absolutely no loyalty to our country? I work in a large Houston Medical Center Hospital & see thousands of people who are milking our society absolutely bone dry. And this doesn't even touch the subject of cultural differences - illegals never have automobile insurance (much less health insurance), the age of consent in Mexico & countries due south is, oh, I don't know, maybe eight years? These people get mortgages, credit cards, etc., with no social security number, simply for showing up & asking (in Spanish)? Well, I guess illegal aliens are good for one thing: They keep the jailers in business. As far as comparing the illegals to Jews in Hitler's Germany - Illegals are killing real Americans by the thousands & very, very seldom the other way around. Welcome to America, a soon to be turd world country, thanks to the illegal aliens. Lucky us.

The fact is there was no mention in the original editorial about deporting illegal alien criminals, it was about deporting Hispanic immigrants. Fact 2: Illegals are not taking jobs from the labor class/working class/teenagers of our country, the ones that want to work have a job. The ones that feel that it is much easier to just let the government take care of them do just that. It's called welfare, food stamps. WIC, TANF etc. Fact 3: Not all Americans work for minimum wage and below. The ones that qualify for minimum wage receive minimum wage. Fact 4: We have lots and lots of individuals that were born here and have no loyalty to this country. Fact 5: It isn't the illegal aliens that are keeping our jailers in business, it is red blooded Americans...I know, I work at a state jail and the percentage of illegal aliens in jail is far less than Americans.

AMEN to the first response...I am sick and tired of sending ym daughter to school who is in 2nd grade and make her learn Spanish (been doing it since kindergarten), for when this is America they should learn our language. To me if our kids want to learn the language for later on in life in career or etc..that shall be their right.Not the right of the schools to tell us that our kids HAVE to take those classes. Do you kow if you walk into any of these schools, they have classes only for spanish speaking kids, and listen to the teachers, they dont talk to these kids in English, they talk to them in Spanish. HUH??? What is that teaching them. I am sick and tired of going to the grocery store, stand in line behind someone with 2 baskets full of junk food, cokes, ice cream, sodas, ding dongs, whatever and after $300.00 they pull out a lone star card???? FEED YOUR KIDS HEALTHY FOOD!!! Thanks for using my tax dollars to pig out on fat foods! To bad McDonalds dont take lone star huh? Anyway..I am off my soap box, but yes again I agree with the first posting, its about time someone speaks up!!! I thought the truck mishap story was interesting because I work indirectly in the commerical transportation industry and deal with these "mishaps" all the time. Good Report!

Holy Huckabee!

My Grandmother, a lifelong resident of Arkansas, told me three weeks ago that even the most massive of searches would not turn up anything very bad about Mike Huckabee. She said people may disgree with him, but no one who knew him would have anything bad to say about him. My Grandmother is 91 years old and she may have forgotten to use the phrase "true or factual". Huckabee appears to me to be the only candidate for any informed Christian who believes in conservative Reagan-like political policies. The contrast between him and Hillary Clinton would bring great clarity to the nation's voters. It would really distinguish the choices we face as a nation. A democratic country like ours does not necessarily continue the values and traditions and beliefs of their ancestors and Huckabee affords us the opportunity to while Hillary entices those who want change to vote for a different direction. Interesting.

1 Killed, 6 Seriously Injured in Accident on Highway 59

I am sad to hear about this accident. It seems like they weren't wearing seatbelts. According to the pictures, it looks like a seatbelt could've saved the life of this 14 year old boy. What a tragedy for this family to have to bury their oldest son. If they were wearing seatbelts then the impact must have been so severe it crushed the seats and realeased the children to be ejected. I see so many children moving around in vehicles not wearing seatbelts and to this day I still see infants being carried in their mothers arms in the front passenger seat. If you care about your kids, put a seatbelt on them and put one on yourself so they don't lose a parent either. And if you are drinking - for God's sake...DO NOT DRIVE!! What the heck are these people thinking!!??!! EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THE DEFENSIVE DRIVING VIDEO OF WHAT A CRASH CAN DO TO A PERSON WHO DOESN'T WEAR A SEATBELT, SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO A CHILD WHEN THE MOTHER IS HOLDING THEM IN THE FRONT SEAT AND SEE WHAT THE EMT REALLY HAVE TO SEE ON A DAILY BASIS JUST DUE TO NEGLECT. USE YOUR COMMON SENSE, IT CAN SAVE A LIFE, MAYBE EVEN YOURS. Something to think about. I will be praying for the families, they are both going to be going through difficult times.

another drunk driver takes innocent life. pathetic

My name is Anggie, I am the mother of the child that was murdered by this drunk driver. To the one who suggested seatbelts, YES WE ALL HAD THEM ON!!!!! If you think about how fast and hard the impact was I guess you can imagine the rest. It is very hard for me to go threw this, honestly I wish this on one! I lost my beautiful baby in an instant, he had a whole life ahead of him and it's sooooo unfair that someone who does not appreciate life take it from him.....and to have people always suggest the same thing without being there that night, YES SEATBELTS WERE ON, I ASK MYSELF THE SAME THING, WHY? WHY DID THIS HAPPEN? WHAT HAPPENED? I dont even know myself....

FDA Issues Early Communication for Chantix

I used chantix for 6 days and didn't like the way that it made me feel. It also made my blood pressure go really high.

I took Chantix for 1 week. I still have 6 unused boxes left. The first 3 days of taking chantix was fine, but on the fourth day, I was driving to work, which is an hour drive, I started feeling "high" or something. I got to work, drank a cup of coffee and started to input stuff into a database. All of the sudden, I was daydreaming, I would snap back into reality, then I would fall asleep at my desk. I felt weird all day at work. Well, driving home, I started to hallucinate. I thought I saw a man standing in the middle of the road on hwy 146 with a 20 foot pole. Next thing I knew, I was in the other lane and came 1 foot from a head on collision. I tell you from experience and concern, STOP taking Chantix. It can kill you (not the drug itself but the side effects).
